Hello, young time travelers! Do you know what time it is? Time helps us know when to wake up, when to eat lunch, and when it’s time to play! We use clocks to tell time. There are two main kinds of clocks you'll see: analog clocks with hands, and digital clocks with numbers. An analog clock has a short hand called the hour hand, and a long hand called the minute hand. The hour hand tells us what hour it is, like 1 o'clock or 3 o'clock. The minute hand tells us the minutes. When the minute hand points to the 12, it means 'o'clock' – a new hour has begun! We'll learn to read the time to the hour and then to the half-hour. For example, when the big hand is on the 12 and the small hand is on the 2, it's 2 o'clock! When the big hand is on the 6, it's 'half past' the hour.
