✍🏻 4th Grade Science: Evaporation and Boiling

Have you ever noticed how a puddle disappears after a sunny day, or how steam rises from a pot of boiling water? This is all thanks to two amazing science concepts: evaporation and boiling! Evaporation is like a sneaky process where liquid water turns into an invisible gas called water vapor. It happens all the time, even when it's not super hot, as long as there's enough energy. Think of clothes drying on a line – that's evaporation at work! Boiling is a much faster and more dramatic way for water to turn into vapor. It happens when you heat water up to its boiling point, usually at 100 degrees Celsius (212 degrees Fahrenheit). When water boils, you see lots of bubbles forming and rising to the surface. These bubbles are made of water vapor! So, while both processes turn liquid into gas, boiling is a more intense version that happens at a specific temperature.
